Wearing sunscreen helps to decrease incidence of wrinkles & prevent development of skin cancer. But sunscreen isn't enough by itself. Here are some additional skin care tips to protect skin.

Always wear shades. Sunglasses protect delicate skin around eyes from wrinkles. They also help prevent cataracts & macular degeneration, leading causes of vision loss in elderly. Wear shades whenever you go outside, even on hazy days, says Phillip Calenda, MD, an ophthalmologist at Westchester Vision Care in Scarsdale, NY.

Best sunglasses block 99 to 100% of UVA & UVB rays—look for ones that have labels claiming 100% or total UV protection. Wraparound sunglasses & styles that fit close to eye are especially good because they prevent sun's rays from coming in through sides.

Wear a hat. A tightly woven hat made of canvas, w. a 4-inch brim all way around, helps shade your face, ears, & back of your neck.

Wear long-sleeve shirts. & wear long pants. They offer best protection from sun's burning rays.

Buy clothing w. tight-knit weaves. It's best to buy tight-weave clothes, some of which have SPF ratings just like sunscreen. Companies that sell high-SPF clothing include Sun Precautions, Solarveil, & SunGrubbies.
